Twenty years ago, POP UP Products Limited set out to solve a simple problem: how to make working at height safer, quicker and easier.
What followed was the development of access equipment that challenged established approaches and earned the trust of hire companies, contractors and facilities teams alike. As we mark our 20th birthday, this is the story of how the POP UP concept took shape, the industry experience that informed it, and the journey that continues today. The POP UP Products story is built on innovation and one we’re very proud to share.
Hitting 20 years as an independent business is a milestone that matters for more than just the party (and cake!). For POP UP Products Limited it is a clear signal that a practical idea, engineered properly and supported by excellent after sales care, can grow into a trusted brand that our customers rely on day after day.
Two decades in the access industry means thousands of safe, successful jobs supported by the right kit, improvements driven by real user feedback, and long-term relationships with hire partners and stockists across the UK. This anniversary helps us to recognise our sustained innovation, engineering and service as the main foundations of the business.
The story of Pop Up Products is rooted in the broader evolution of access engineering from the early 1970s onwards, when demand for safer, more practical ways to work at height began to rise.
Over those three decades the industry moved from heavy, specialist scaffolding to lighter, mobile and more ergonomic solutions. That shift created the space for new thinking in compact, transportable access platforms and one-man solutions.
POP UP Products draws on those industry lessons and engineering traditions that date back to the early 1970s and that shaped the team’s thinking before the company became the independent business it is today.
2006 was a defining year for us.
After extensive research and development, the original POP UP lift was launched – a push-around mini scissor lift that offered a change in how operators accessed low to medium heights. The design solved familiar problems: it was compact, easy to manoeuvre, simple to deploy and required minimal on-site assembly, all while meeting the safety standards expected in the sector.
That breakthrough set the template for the product families that followed, from portable adjustable work platforms to powered access machines and push-around lifts capable of working at heights up to around 5 metres. The focus has always been safe, simple solutions that are easy to maintain, backed by training, replacement parts and excellent aftercare.
Our 20th birthday celebration will highlight our products, our team, our customers, partners and the journey along the way to getting here. We have lots of exciting things happening throughout 2026 to celebrate our anniversary including; a ‘Golden Deck’ giveaway, a charity campaign, and appearing at lots of shows and events around the country to say thank you to our fantastic customers.
